Philosophy of Teaching
The children of today are our future. As a soon
to be educator of these children, I want to ensure that I can leave a special
impact on the lives of the students; an impact that will help them to reach
their fullest potential as successful
life-long learners in whichever road their lives may lead.
The person I have become today is considerably due to the personal values that I have instilled in my life; respect, understanding, tolerance, inclusion, responsibility, honesty and integrity. These significant values are what are important to me, and I feel it is highly imperative that as a teacher, I am able to demonstrate them to my students and help each child to develop these values in themselves, in order to behold both in and outside of the classroom.
I will strive to create a classroom that is a positive, safe and supportive learning environment for each student. An environment where all students feel comfortable, secure and are appreciated by all; where each individual child is able to develop intellectually, socially, physically, mentally and spiritually; where my enthusiasm and passion for learning as a teacher is reflective in the students’ positive attitude towards learning
Different learning styles will be incorporated to meet the needs of each individual student, including active and inquiry-based learning, where students are able to take responsibility for their own construction of knowledge and understandings, through highly engaging and hands-on tasks. I will plan with a specific focus on making all subjects interesting and enjoyable for the students, where they have a strong desire to continue to become effective learners.
As part of my teaching profession, I will seek to develop positive relationships with students, staff and parents. I feel it is important to develop valuable relationships with each of my students, through being able to communicate my expectations of them as a student in my classroom, as well as always being available for the students to approach me for a range of matters. . I aim to seek knowledge, advice and support from the principal and fellow staff members, in order to continue to improve and consolidate my teaching practices.I will interact with parents in a professional manner, providing information of their child’s strengths and weaknesses, and encouraging them to play an active role in their child’s education.
